I ran a call to pick up a potentially violent patient yesterday at a care facility. I was working with my usually partner who is also a girl. First thing out of the med. nurse's mouth was " There is no man with you? You should have a guy here." Pissed me and my partener right off. I've delt with nasty people before who wanted to get froggy with me and can lift a 300+ lbs person into the ambulance. We can handle ourselves. Don't need a guy. Female does not equal fragile. Damn stereotypes. Nothing happened. I took the guy's cane away and that was that. No problem. Just had to listen to him rant the entire time.
